About The Unit :

The Student Life & Engagement Unit (SLE) leads programs and initiatives that create meaningful learning experiences for students beyond the classroom.


About The Role :


Reports to: Senior Assistant Director, Student Life & Engagement (SLE)


Role Summary: The role is expected to serve as an advocate for students, be highly energetic, vibrant, and creative due to the high levels of interaction with students. Assess students’ needs and support services, developing innovative student-centred co-curricular programs, activities, and events that enhances their educational experience. The Senior Coordinator–Student Engagement is a full-time role in the Student Life & Engagement team.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight to all student clubs & organizations to increase the quality of programs, leadership efforts and services offered to students.
  • Review the portfolio and implementation of personal development workshops for all students.
  • Guide student leaders in the design and implementation of student council programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Develop, plan, and implement targeted training for those holding student leadership positions on campus, including resident assistants, student government executives, club heads etc.
  • Design and execute an engagement plan for providing special support to graduate students based on their programs and interests.
  • Promote programs that fund and support student businesses and initiatives to graduate students.
  • Assess, track achievements, trends, and impact of executed programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Work closely with other members of the SLE team to organize quality student events and activities for all students like orientation, graduation, town hall meetings etc.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree with three to five years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment. Highly motivated and with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the university environment.
  • Alignment with Ashesi’s commitment to ethical conduct including empathy.
  • Creative thinker and engaging leader interested in assisting young adults to pursue impactful causes.
  • Able to maintain fiscal discipline and adapt sustainable measures in the execution of all events and activities will be an asset.
  • Skills in graphic design, photography & video editing are assets.
