[RFA] Ghana GrEEn Increase access and usage of innovative financial services in Ashanti and Western regions of Ghana

About the GrEEn Project

T his programme will contribute to addressing the root causes of irregular migration through green and climate-resilient local economic development and improving prospects of beneficiaries, by creating employment and enterprise opportunities in selected sectors and regions, specifically Ashanti and Western regions. The action aims at supporting job creation in regions of departure, transit and return of Ghana, creating local financial ecosystems that facilitate the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and enabling the transition of local economies to green and climate-resilient development. Under this Request for Applications “Increase access and usage of innovative financial services in Ashanti and Western regions of Ghana”, UNCDF will select successful candidates in the development or expansion of innovative use-cases, products or business models to facilitate access and usage of financial services targeting youth , women , MSMEs and diaspora groups  and help them in the post-COVID-19 recovery in the Ashanti and Western regions of Ghana.

Solutions should address one of the two following pillars:

1.     PILLAR 1. Driving diaspora investments:  UNCDF is open to proposals from applicants to provide innovative, scalable and commercially viable financial services and products that enable diaspora groups to channel their financial flows at the benefit of local economies in Western and Ashanti regions.

2.     PILLAR 2. Innovative lending solutions:  UNCDF is open to proposals from applicants to provide innovative, scalable and commercially viable financial services and products that enable the entrepreneurs and/or MSMEs in Ashanti and Western regions to access financing .

How to Apply:  Applicants must submit their application no later than 23:59 EDT (New York time) on 28 February 2022 .

Geographic Scope:  Applicants can be based anywhere globally, however solutions must focus on youth, women, returning migrants or MSMES in Ashanti and Western regions of Ghana.

Successful applications will receive:

• up to US$ 200,000 through a mix of technical and funding assistance to successfully deployed the services, depending on the maturity of the solution proposed
