Role Overview
|
We are seeking an experienced and
accomplished Agroforestry Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate
will have a proven track record of successfully implementing
agroforestry projects, demonstrating expertise in sustainable land
management practices, and fostering positive environmental and
socio-economic impacts. The Agroforestry Expert will play a crucial
role in advancing our organization's commitment to sustainable
agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and community development.
As the Agroforestry Project Manager at Farmerline, you will
play a pivotal role in conceiving, executing, and expanding our
transformative Agroforestry initiative, known as the "10 Million Trees
Initiative," across Ghana and other regions in West Africa. Your
responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, from crafting
farmer-centric agroforestry projects to establishing nurseries,
engaging stakeholders, forging partnerships with implementation
collaborators, and ensuring meticulous monitoring and reporting.
Success metrics include; - High adoption
rates of agroforestry practices among farmers.
- Successful issuance of carbon credits for climate change mitigation
efforts.
- Positive environmental impact and
sustainable community development in project areas.

Responsibilities |
- Project Development and Implementation:
- Conceptualize and design agroforestry projects that align
with Farmerline's sustainable development goals.
- Oversee the implementation of farmer-focused agroforestry
initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and environmental
standards.
- Technical Agroforestry
Expertise and Nursery Establishment:
- Develop and
implement agroforestry plans tailored to specific regions, taking into
consideration climate, soil conditions, and local ecosystems.
- Spearhead the setup and management of nurseries to
facilitate the cultivation of diverse tree species for the
agroforestry program.
- Provide technical guidance
and backstopping in species selection and agroforestry system design
based on geographies
- Manage tree planting, pruning,
and maintenance activities to ensure optimal growth and productivity.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Conduct
consultations with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, local
communities, governmental bodies, and non-governmental organizations
to garner support and ensure project success.
- Collaboration and Partnerships:
- Identify
and collaborate with suitable implementation partners, fostering
relationships that enhance the reach and impact of the agroforestry
projects.
- Collaborate with local communities,
farmers, and stakeholders to promote the adoption of agroforestry
practices.
- Provide training and education on
agroforestry techniques, benefits, and best practices.
- Carbon Projects and Certification:
- Act as the primary liaison for potential carbon projects associated
with agroforestry initiatives.
- Lead the
certification processes, ensuring compliance with established
standards and facilitating the issuance of carbon credits.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor and manage the health of agroforestry systems, including pest
control, disease prevention, and soil conservation measures.
- Implement robust monitoring mechanisms to track project
progress, environmental impact, and community benefits.
- Generate comprehensive reports to communicate project
outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in developing
and managing budgets for agroforestry projects and ensure
cost-effective implementation.
- Identify and pursue
funding opportunities to support agroforestry initiatives.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Digitize and maintain accurate records of agroforestry activities,
including planting schedules, maintenance activities, and project
outcomes
- Prepare regular reports for stakeholders
and funding agencies

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Agroforestry, Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, or
a related field.
- Proven experience in agroforestry
or related sustainable agriculture projects.
- Strong
project management skills with a track record of successful
implementation.
- Familiarity with carbon credit
processes and certification standards.
- Excellent
stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
- Passion for sustainable development and environmental conservation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Relevant Experience - Prior experience in project management or directly managing a project
team
- Experience building and maintaining
